A Romantic Surprise Proposal at Donnington Hotel, Newbury
This was our first time doing a proposal setup at Donnington Hotel, which was a bit of journey from London, but we love doing setups at grand, historic venues like this. This proposal was going to be a complete surprise for our couple, and we were so excited to bring their vision to life and give them a memorable moment to be cherished forever.
The Venue
Donnington Hotel is a beautiful country house set in the Berkshire countryside, and it made for an incredible backdrop for this proposal. The team there gave us access to a private event space to work with, which was perfect. The grounds were huge, and so well maintained, that there were so many different options to choose from in terms of the proposal setting. If you're looking for a luxury proposal venue outside of London in the South East or Home Counties, Donnington Valley is one well worth considering.
The Setup
The brief was bold and romantic, with our signature red heart arch. This really was a complete setup - we had our walkway lined with candles and rose petals leading up to the heart, with tall flute candles on either side. There were several gifts, with a beautiful red rose bouquet, teddy bear, and even a celebratory cake waiting to be enjoyed. The atmosphere was incredibly wholesome, with friends there to witness the couple pop the question.
By the time the couple arrived at Donnington Hotel, everything was in place, and it felt intimate and dramatic at the same time.
The Moment
Everyone was in on this surprise, including the staff at the hotel. Our couple were led to the restaurant where a table for them was supposedly waiting, so when they turned the corner to see the beautiful proposal setup waiting for them, with the glowing 'Will You Marry Me' sign, the look on their faces switched so quick!
This one had a brilliant energy to it - she had absolutely no idea what was waiting for her, and when that door opened the reaction from everyone in the room said it all.
He got down on one knee, she said yes, and the joy on her face as she looked down at the ring was everything. Huge congratulations to this wonderful couple, and what a way to celebrate with the people you love most💍
